About the Food Laboratories
The food laboratories support teaching and research in a “Food Grade” environment.
Teaching Food Laboratory, Room 2-36, is used to provide the laboratory portion of courses in food fundamentals and quality, sensory science, and product development.
Research Food Laboratory, Room 2-39, provides researchers space for consumer evaluations, sensory research, product development and analysis of food.
Sensory Panel Rooms, Room 2-35 and Room 2-37, are two atmosphere controlled rooms each with 8 computerized individual testing booths.
Food Preparation Kitchen, Room 2-31 is available for bookings for ALES faculty. Users must follow proper food handling procedures as posted.
Walk-In Cold Room and Freezer Rooms 2-42A & 2-42B are Food Grade and Non Food Grade separate storage facilities. All products must be properly labeled with Name, In & Out Dates.

Access to Facilities
Prior to use, new personnel must be trained in food handling and safety practices and follow required standards as mandated by Alberta Health Services. Booking calendars are posted on facility doors to verify availability.
