Fisher Isotemp Oven (2)

Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences
Most commonly used for the combustion of organic matter allowing for the gravimetric determination of ash. Furnace is also used for cleaning glassware
High volume convection ovens for sample preparation (drying at 65°C) and dry matter determination (110°C). 110°C oven is also used for hydrolysis, drying glassware, etc.
Burners available for the analysis of silver, copper, cadmium, lead, zinc, calcium, magnesium, cobalt, chromium, iron, manganese, nickel, sodium, potassium, selenium and ytterbium
Requires separate runs for: Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF) – residue after digestion in acid detergent – estimate of cellulose and lignin. Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) – residue after digestion in neutral detergent – estimate of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin Crude Read More …
Determination of gross calorific values of liquid and solid samples
Solvent extraction of fat, allowing for the gravimetric determination of Crude Fat in food and feedstuffs.
Primary use is for nitrogen determination. Average N content of protein in food/feedstuffs is 16%, therefore: %N x 6.25* = %Crude Protein *100% ÷ 16% = 6.25
