It is capable of both EI and CI for compounds up to ~ 1000 MW. In addition to quantitative analysis of known compounds, it can be used to identify unknown compounds through unique fragmentation and by comparison with databases. It can scan a mass range, or selectively choose a desired mass for analysis.
